The center offers three five-year undergraduate programs in clinical medicine, preventive medicine, and stomatology, as well as a four-year undergraduate program in pharmacy. Additionally, it has an undergraduate program in clinical medicine (taught in English) for international students and a clinical medicine elite innovation class program. It also boasts one first-level academic doctoral program in clinical medicine, one postdoctoral research station, three first-level academic master's programs in clinical medicine, public health and preventive medicine, and basic medicine, as well as four professional master's programs in clinical medicine, public health, pharmacy, and medical technology. The center's clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, and biology and biochemistry have all entered the top 1% of global academic institutions.
The Faculty currently has 3,313 full-time students, including 81 doctoral candidates, 1,040 master's students, and 2,192 undergraduate students (including 257 international students). Additionally, there are 1,132 students pursuing master's degrees through equivalent academic qualifications. Students have achieved remarkable results in various competitions: one national special prize, one second prize, and one third prize in the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition; one provincial special prize, five first prizes, one second prize, and one third prize in the provincial "Challenge Cup" competition; two national gold awards and three provincial gold awards in the "Challenge Cup" College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition; seven gold awards and three silver awards in the China International College Students' Innovation Competition (formerly the "Internet+" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition); and ten gold awards (including two from international student teams), two silver awards, and three bronze awards in the Zhejiang College Students' Innovation Competition. The Faculty has also been recognized with one comprehensive reform and quality enhancement project for ideological and political education by the Ministry of Education. Over the past three years, the overall graduate employment rate has remained above 97%. The average postgraduate admission rate for Clinical Medicine undergraduates is 61.02%, while for Preventive Medicine undergraduates, it is 24.78%. In the National Medical Licensing Examination, the average overall pass rate for Clinical Medicine undergraduate graduates is 86.49%, approximately 15 percentage points higher than the national average. For Preventive Medicine undergraduate graduates, the average overall pass rate is 78.95%, with the 2023 cohort achieving an 80.95% pass rate in the National Public Health Practitioner Licensing Examination, ranking first in the province. The average overall pass rate for Clinical Medicine professional master's graduates in the Standardized Training Examination for Resident Physicians is 98.78%.
The Faculty comprises three schools: the School of Basic Medical Sciences, the School of Public Health, and the School of Pharmacy; two university-level research institutes affiliated with the Faculty: the Ningbo University New Drug Technology Research Institute and the Ningbo University Institute of Intelligent Medicine and Bioengineering; three public service platforms: the Large-scale Instrument Platform Center, the Ningbo University Laboratory Animal Center, and the Ningbo University Body Donation Center; and manages the Ningbo University Center for Behavioral Neuroscience, the Ningbo University Diabetes Research Center, and the Ningbo University Biomedical Engineering Research Center. It oversees six directly affiliated hospitals, five non-directly affiliated hospitals, 15 teaching hospitals, 33 preventive medicine teaching practice bases, 19 community health service practice teaching bases, 9 pharmacy teaching bases, and one provincial-level "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" university student off-campus practice education base.
The Faculty has established one national teaching team, one Zhejiang provincial teaching team, and eight Ningbo municipal scientific and technological innovation teams. It has developed eight national-level courses and 25 provincial-level courses. Additionally, it has secured one national first-class specialty construction site, one provincial first-class specialty construction site, one provincial key specialty, one provincial advantageous specialty, and one provincial experimental teaching demonstration center. It has also implemented the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health "Excellent Doctor Education and Training Plan" pilot project. The Faculty boasts one national international cooperation base, two provincial key laboratories, one provincial-ministerial international cooperation base, and two municipal key disciplines. It has undertaken 228 national-level projects (including seven key projects) and 432 provincial-ministerial projects, with cumulative research funding reaching 296.55 million RMB. Achievements include one National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize (as a participant) and 15 provincial-ministerial science and technology awards. The Faculty has obtained 123 authorized invention patents, published 2,371 papers (including 1,636 high-level papers and 29 highly cited papers), and produced 19 textbooks and monographs, along with six compilations.
The Faculty boasts a high-level teaching team, consisting of 109 full-time faculty members, seven full-time postdoctoral researchers, and 3,224 clinical instructors. Among the full-time faculty, 35 hold senior professional titles, 37 hold associate senior titles, and 37 hold intermediate titles. The Faculty has 68 doctoral supervisors and 624 master's supervisors. It is home to four academicians from China and abroad, 10 individuals enjoying the State Council Special Allowance, five recipients of national-level talent programs, and 88 recipients of various provincial and municipal talent programs.
The Faculty actively pursues internationalization in education by developing programs for international students and offering English-taught courses. It began enrolling international students in 2011. Since 2020, it has collaborated with the Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, the European University of Burgundy, and the Marie et Louis Pasteur University in France to offer a dual-degree joint doctoral program in Clinical Medicine. The Faculty also strengthens international exchanges and cooperation, having established academic collaborations and faculty/student exchange programs with institutions such as the Medical University of South Carolina (USA), the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Angers (France), the University of Skövde (Sweden), University College London (UK), the University of Manchester (UK), Charles Sturt University (Australia), and the University of Adelaide (Australia).
